Idea

The visual review of space in this painting began with two suggested figures on an extended mass of colors directed toward cool grey colors with their expansive background. This large solemn painting created a sense for horizontal spaciousness. The figures themselves as if part of the muted grey tones of color became part of a composition of muted tonal arrangements. They suggested spacial movement to my eyes. The tonal figures came forward from a muted background, in greys they became simply a study in and for themselves.

In the end, this painting became wonderful in its simplicity – a study of how shades of grey can furnish a sense of emerging self from a neutral mass and confusion.
